Artists of all abilities, styles, and genres are invited to participate in the IDEA Center’s new figure drawing series, DRAW, taking place the first Wednesday of each month.

With featured themes and models both costumed and nude, DRAW lets artists practice their skills among friends. Part class, part social experience—artists should bring both their own supplies and snacks. Beer will be available for purchase.

DRAW is open to artists 18+ and costs $10 for the general public. Admission is $5 for CREATE members and free for IDEA Center members. Sessions will take place from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the IDEA Center (1039B Ellis Street, Stevens Point, WI).

Space is limited to 15 artists. A facilitator will be available to share figure-drawing techniques and to answer questions. Limited easels are available for reservation. Email JuliaN@createportagecounty.org to reserve both your spot and your easel. Walk-ins are welcome if space allows.

Painting through the Eyes of Claude Monet

Painting through the Eyes of Claude Monet

In this fun workshop, you'll learn to paint "in the style of" the great French master Claude Monet. Using his beautifully color-rich palette and his impressionist style as inspiration, you'll expand your own painting skills. This hands-on class will teach you about Monet and how to paint in his style in order to enrich your own. Your creativity will be enhanced "seeing through his eyes." You'll be amazed at your final paintings "in the style of" Monet!

All levels are welcome, including beginners. All media: oil, acrylic, pastel or watercolor. Instructor will demo in watercolor.  Bring your own supplies or contact instructor for recommendations.

A lunchtime DVD on Monet will also be shown. Bring bag lunch.

Instructor Biography:

Jane Barnard is a highly skilled and supportive teacher, a member of the Wisconsin Watercolor Society, Wisconsin Visual Artists and Wisconsin Plein Air Painters. She has a master's degree from Marquette University. Her studies have included the University of Paris (Sorbonne), the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and workshops from master watercolorists.

Jane is a passionate painter and teacher, especially gentle and helpful in encouraging those wanting to stretch their artistic vision and skills. She teaches at The Clearing in Door County, the NE Wis Watercolor Society, Dillmans Creative Art Center, among others. She has led two Art Workshops to Provence, France.

Identity and Inclusivity Discussions (i2i) explore topics of identity and diversity to find, to build, and to grow in community through shared learning experiences. i2i promotes positive dialogue in hopes of making Portage County a safer and more inclusive community where all people can live out their best identities.
